Van Dyke Reunion 2010 -  " Coming Home"
The weekend of July 9-11, 2010, Huntingdon Pennsylvania

Huntingdon is a focal point for a lot of Van Dyke family history.  All of Archie and Esther's 15 children were born in and around this area. They left a beautiful home (still standing) in the area to move to the rigors of the Nebraska frontier.  Daughter Eleanor married one of the Brumbaugh's who founded Juniata College in Huntingdon.

Lodging
NOTE!
On the “Save the Date” card sent out in August, we said we were reserving a block of air-conditioned dormitory rooms at Juniata College at very modest rates.  Circumstances have changed!!   The rental policies of the college have been revised during the past year and staying there is no longer economically feasible.

Thirty-five rooms have been “blocked” for our reunion at the Comfort Inn in Huntingdon, PA.  The block will be dropped three weeks before the reunion.  We urge you to get your room reservations locked in as soon as possible.  If you are unable to get into one of the blocked rooms at the Comfort Inn or wish to check out other possibilities, detailed lists of other housing options can be found on the internet at the following addresses:

This website has comprehensive lists (including phone numbers) of motels, hotels, bed and breakfasts and other options for lodging in and around Huntingdon.  However, the links to the various options are in light blue, small print on the left side and are easy to overlook:

For camping and other lodging at Raystown Lake go to:  http://www.raystownlake.com/lodging.htm.  Note: We will be there during the height of their season so reservations need to be made ASAP.

Additional lodging options in the wider Huntingdon County area can be found at:http://www.huntingdon.net/visit/lodging.htm

Travel by Air
Airfares are low currently.  You might want to investigate locking-in a ticket now.  Who knows how high they will be closer to the reunion date.  The Altoona airport is closest at approximately one hour away.  The Pittsburgh airport is about 2 1/2 hours away, but might be cheaper overall.

Check this website periodically for developments as time gets nearer.
