Here is the "scoop" on lodging in Beatrice!

We URGE you to make your reservations as soon as possible, especially if you have "special needs."  It's easier to cancel later, than to get the room you want later.  Be sure you mention the “Van Dyke - -Swigart Reunion so you can get these prices.  The Gage County Fair is the same week as our reunion so there will be some competition for motel space. 

A person at the Convention Bureau ranks the Holiday Inn, Super 8 and Victorian Inn about the same and they are clearly the best of the motels. The other three are listed in the order of preference.  (Note: North 6^th Street is also U.S. Route 77.)

1. Holiday Inn Express

Note:  This is where the reunion will be held.  Twenty rooms are blocked until July 8, 2005, at which time, they will be released for booking on a first come, first served basis. Price is $64.95 per room plus tax. Rooms have two queen sized beds or one king bed in them. Suites are available at $74.95 plus tax. Included in the rate is a continental breakfast, indoor pool, fitness center, and spa.

2. Victorian Inn

Thirty rooms are blocked for us until June 20, 2005.  Rates for two people are as follows: $39.00 plus tax for a room with one queen or king bed; $44.00 plus tax for a room with two queen beds; $55.00 plus tax for suites (6 available, two of them sleep 6). There is one ADA accessible suite and two ADA accessible rooms on the main floor. Spacious rooms with refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, large continental breakfast included. No elevator, pool or fitness room. (Paul saw this place and really liked it.)

3. Super 8 Motel

Twenty rooms are blocked until July 15, 2005.  The rate is $45.00 plus tax per room with a variety of styles available.  An indoor pool, fitness room and continental breakfast included in the rate. There is an elevator and ADA accessible rooms are available. This is where some of the committee stayed in 2004.

4. Holiday Villa
1820 N. 6th St.

Fifteen rooms are blocked until July 29, 2005.  Rates are as follows: one person - $30.95, Senior rate - $28.95; Two people - $38.95, Senior rate - 32.95. All rates are plus tax. Most beds are full sized with one accessible room and one king room. This is an older motel but kept “very clean” according to the convention bureau. There is a playground, but no pool. Coffee is available in the lobby, but NO breakfast is served.

5. Beatrice Inn Motel
3500 N. 6th St.

Twenty rooms with two beds and 10 rooms with one bed are blocked until July 19, 2005.  Rates are as follows: one bed, two people - $38.48 plus tax; two beds, two people - $41.18 plus tax. Beds are full, queen and king in size and two ADA accessible rooms are available. Coffee is available in the lobby, but no breakfast is served. However, there is a restaurant on site, which we heard this year serves a good breakfast. There is an outdoor pool, but no guarantee it will be open. The Convention Bureau says this is also kept clean and in good repair, but is an older motel.

6. Econolodge

Fifteen rooms are blocked until March 15, 2005.  A room with one bed is $32.99 plus tax and a room with two beds is $42.99 plus tax. There is a continental breakfast on weekends, but not during the week. No other amenities available. This is the least desirable of all the motels.

FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED!  NO RESERVATIONS TAKEN!  There are seven rooms available, six with full sized beds, one with a twin bed. They range in price from $55.00 to $105.00 plus tax with most being $75.00. Three suites are available, all with private baths. One is $85.00, one is $95.00 and one is $105.00. Anyone booking for the reunion will receive $10.00 off the price. There are three steps to the front porch and a small elevator in the house to get to the second floor. A full breakfast is included in the room rate and breakfast time is flexible according to the needs of the guests.  The Convention Bureau considers this site "very nice:"

There are twenty sites available at the back of the property. Each site has electric, water and sewer hook-ups. Sites with 30 amp electric are $16.50 per night, and sites with 50 amp electric are $18.00 per night. This is a 24 hour truck stop and restaurant (we had breakfast there and it was very good).  Restrooms and free showers available inside for campers.

Chautauqua Park Riverside park These are municipal parks operated by the Beatrice Park Dept. Chautauqua Park has 20 sites with full hookups priced at $13.00 per night. Riverside Park has "about 10" sites with electric only, priced at $7.00 per night. Showers and restrooms are available at both parks.
